the single man travelling to russia
I would would like to ask a few questions to the people who have traveled to russia to make thier first contact..Im asking about going as a single male NOT with a tour group
1.. How great is the language barrier??
2.. How much of an issue is crime..just how safe is it??
3. what kind of currency are u carrying??
4.. whats the best mode of transport to get around ie bus , Taxi ??

Hello, I hope this helps, I have spent over two years in Russian over the last 10.
1. Not to bad about 20% of younger women speak some English.
2. Crime is not to bad, just make sure you stay in a nice hotel. Apartments can be extremely dangerous. I have had lots of friends robed in apaprtments.
3. Take new hundred dollar bills, do not exchange them on street. ATM cards work and most nice places take credit cards. Travels checks are a big hassle to cash and they charge a percentage. then you also get bad exchange rate. So you can lose about 20%
4. Metro is the best way to get around, Jipsy cabs are much cheaper then regular cabs. Never take a cab sitting in front of a hotel or night club. They will charge you 10 times the regular amount.

Some good advice
Hello, if you want some really good advice. I suggest to call in a AFA's live phone conference. They have about 50 guys on each week many have travels to russia.
They can give a lot of insight to Russian women. I have included so of their text from their home page:
