back from kiev

Hey all. I just returned from Kiev. Here are some of my thoughts before they fade away. Don't declare anything you don't have to. There should be nothing on your declaration sheet except for the cash in your wallet. there is a 40 % rate on declared value!! Money orders are probably useful in emergencies-time consuming to cash. There are money machines all over, I saw a 1 dollar charge per withdrawal (1%). Every restaurant we ate in took plastic. Keep grivnas for taxis and please tip the excellent waiters and waitresses. Best food I have ever tasted day in and out. Must try borsch!! I still can't describe it. I didn't go clubbing so no comments on that part--but did go walking about a little bit and I felt safe but alone! haha Apartment was $50 and was nice (big fridge, stove, hot water, full size bed, tv). I do not consider myself to be an experienced traveler but I will try to give my take on any questions.

she wants to visit..

I deleted the pic because it occurred to me I didn't ask if I could post her pic. I think I am feeling a little insecure. You can disregard this post. thanks
this is cathy, she has just asked to visit me. I guess what I am asking is: is anyone else writing her. I am a little ashamed to ask this question...but, all the talk about scams has me a little rattled. for over 6 months and the 5 days in Kiev, I haven't seen anything scam like.. this is my last check.
thanks all,
jr
